Introduction

Browser Extension is a tool that provides BNS compatibility for regular browsers. By downloading Portal Network’s browser extension, users can simply type in their BNS, such as “myportlanetwork.eth” or “myportalnetwork.wan” and be directed to the corresponding ÐWebs.

Motivation

Even with IPFS hash registered with BNS, you won’t be able to view the content of those site by typing in the BNS. It is because none of the browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Opera, know how to read those blockchain name service (BNS) such as “.eth”.

MetaMask's Browser Extension, Portal Network's Contribution

While MetaMask is an open-source project that believes in "it’s better when it’s shared", Portal Network had proposed the extension suggestion and helped on the improvement.

With Portal Network or MetaMask's browser extension, users can directly type in the BNS into the search engine and it will automatically redirect to the contents hosted on IPFS. All you have to do is to download, and you will be able to browse the decentralized websites without changing the current user behavior pattern.
